Blue Coast Records, the critically acclaimed acoustic music label, is now available on all music services worldwide. Known to audiophiles for its “Live in the studio” performances and exceptional recording quality, 29 albums will be accessible for mainstream listeners through Tidal, Spotify, Amazon, Qobuz, Apple and more than 200 music services. “It’s like having a concert in your living room”, says founder and producer Cookie Marenco.
The more than 300 tracks released include performances by Fiona Joy Hawkins, Alex de Grassi, Tony Furtado, Jenna Mammina, Keith Greeninger, Meghan Andrews, Garett Brennan, Art Lande, Jenner Fox, and many more. From jazz to folk to new age to roots music, the unifying character in all of these tracks is the intimacy of the performances as they were recorded in the studio.
Blue Coast Records is known for using Direct Stream Digital (DSD) hi-resolution format for recording. Utilizing the label’s proprietary recording technique called Extended Sound Environment (E.S.E.), these tracks maximize quality and passionate performances often overlooked in today’s recordings. The proprietary sound was developed in 2002 by Marenco and Jean Claude Reynaud to provide a sensation of the musicians being in the room with the listener. Without headphones, the artists are uninhibited and bring dynamic performances that are passionate and true to life.
After decades in the recording studio and music industry, Marenco is able to hand pick the finest talents from the thousands of artists she has met to be on Blue Coast Records. These artists have what it takes to perform live in concert or in the studio when no overdubs occur. It is rare to find a record that truly captures the feeling of a concert, but Blue Coast Records does just that.
If you’re new to Blue Coast Records’ music, Blue Coast Collection 4 is the latest compilation featuring a variety of Blue Coast Records’ artists. Acoustic covers from Tom Petty to Joni Mitchell performed live in the studio with the intimacy intact.
The compilation opens with a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” sung by Megan Andrews. Andrews’ voice is soft and effortless as she performs this song live in the studio. “I’m On Fire” sets the tone for the rest of the Blue Coast Collection 4 album.
